Senior User Experience Designer
Britannica is looking for a user experience leader to help the product development teams in shaping the user interface of Britannica's consumer, school and library digital products. The company is looking for an enthusiastic candidate who can thrive in a dynamic environment and participate on a variety of teams. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge & experiences with best practices that can begin impacting all our digital products (web, mobile) immediately as well as have the ability to demonstrated an understanding of strong product discovery as well as plan and execute UX processes.
Responsibilities:
- Work with product leaders and stakeholders in determining the usability goals of new & products and projects
- Provide direction and insight on user behavior for any aspect of a product, recommending design improvements to solve measureable outcomes (KPI driven)
- Develop annotated wireframes to communicate the design function of the given product
- Drive product discovery, usability studies, interviews to discover and test new products
- Design, plan, and execute usability studies and focus group testing for key concepts in the UI
- Develop new design solutions across web, tablet and mobile experiences
- Work with a graphic designer to determine the look-and-feel through final mockups of the work to be executed (though experience in/with design is highly desired)
- Perform some quality assurance testing to verify the integrity of the user experience in upcoming code releases
- Monitor analytics data to confirm that users are behaving as expected and prepare executive summaries of these findings
- Participate in cross-departmental meetings as well as external meetings with teachers, students and parents to gather key stakeholder insights
- Participate and/or lead UX design discussions
Requirements:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in user experience design and information architecture
- Outstanding portfolio demonstrating your approach to projects, quality of thought, storytelling and an ability to bring your ideas to life.
- Illustrate concepts through sketches, wireframes, user flows, mockups and prototypes, etc.
- Strong visual communication knowledge and visual design experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills; strong desire to move projects forward and be proactive
- Familiarity with wireframing tools such as Visio, Axure, etc.
- Understanding of consumer and educational marketplaces; familiarity with internet publishing technologies
- Familiarity with product management
- Experience in content and publishing industry
- Ability to build paper prototypes; active prototyping is critical as well
- Strong working knowledge and experience with design
- Ability to present new ideas, concepts and take feedback while integrating best ideas into concepts
- Multi-channel experience – web, tablet, mobile
- Experience in an Agile environment
